Abu Dhabi, UAE and Astana, Kazakhstan – May 12, 2025: During an official state visit by HH Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi to the Republic of Kazakhstan, a folder exchange ceremony was conducted between Dr. Sultan Al Jaber, AIQ Chairman, and Sanzhar Zharkeshov, CEO of QazaqGaz in Astana.
AIQ, the Abu Dhabi-based artificial intelligence (AI) champion developing innovative solutions for the energy sector, and QazaqGaz, Kazakhstan’s national gas company have entered a strategic collaboration agreement for AIQ’s Reservoir Performance Advisor (RPA) module from its Advanced Reservoir 360 (AR360) solution and the AI-based thin section interpretation application, RockInsight, to be utilized by QazaqGaz.
AR360 is a predictive, automated assessment tool providing a 75% efficiency gain in user productivity in performing comprehensive reservoir model reviews. The application democratizes access to all reservoir model data to asset team members, with information made accessible via a dashboard in the cloud. Access to the RPA module enables users to unlock powerful machine learning and automation capabilities directly within their existing workflows.
In addition to the RPA module, QazaqGaz will also adopt RockInsight, AIQ’s fully automated thin section interpretation application. RockInsight enables high-precision, consistent, and reproducible geological analysis in seconds. By visualizing every subsurface grain and pore in 3D, the solution provides detailed geological insights that accelerate decision-making and support the creation of advanced 3D geological models.
Magzhan Kenesbai, Acting Managing Director, AIQ stated, “Our digital transformation and AI solutions are transforming operations across the energy value chain, making workstreams more efficient and safer, while helping to reduce emission intensity. This agreement with QazaqGaz allows AIQ to focus on a new geography and a new part of the energy mix, which is a significant development for us. Our RPA module brings truly formidable efficiency gains, and we look forward to its introduction into QazaqGaz’s operations, to drive maximum benefit with minimum environmental impact.”
Sanzhar Zharkeshov, CEO of QazaqGaz said, “It is becoming increasingly apparent that energy companies that do not adapt and deploy digital transformation initiatives will unlikely succeed into the long-term. We are keen to take full advantage of all the benefits that digitalization and AI implementation can bring to our operations, and we believe AIQ, with its innovative portfolio of AI solutions such as RockInsight, AR360, and ENERGYai, is well-placed to support or efforts in this area.”
By combining AR360’s capabilities in reservoir model analysis with RockInsight’s high-resolution geological modeling, QazaqGaz will gain a unified, AI-powered view of both dynamic reservoir behavior and underlying rock characteristics. These tools together provide actionable insights to optimize production, reduce operational costs, and enhance overall subsurface performance.
The agreement between AIQ and QazaqGaz will also facilitate the exchange of expertise, best practices, and technological know-how in the fields of AI, Asset Digitalization, and Autonomous Operations.
